Preparation

Good Evening

Today has been a good day. I have been able to relax properly, as opposed to the rushed relaxation that normally comes me way, too often. The sun has been shining, and has brought warmth, as it always does, to brighten up a dreary day, but in this case to heighten the prolonged state of relaxation.

It is getting on this evening, but tomorrow I am preaching a sermon at a Seventh Day Adventist Church in Surrey. The history of this appointment is that due to me preaching at the Wimbleon Seventh Day Adventist Church back in February, some youth leaders from the Horley Seventh Day Adventist Church granted me an invitation to come and preach to them, this Sabbath, on health. This is not particularly a tricky subject to preach on, if you belong to the medical profession, but the scope of health, once thrown against the backdrop of a Christian philosophy-perhaps ideology-can become difficult to convey.

The reason for such difficulty, is that health, once seen through a Judeo-Christian context, becomes a lot more than the simple matter of how many portions of fruit to eat, and how many glasses of water to drink per day. It becomes a matter that whatever you do to your body, ranging from food consumption, to the sort of music you listen to, can affect your body through the physical, mental and therefore spiritual dimensions that construct our being.

The simple truth is that health for the Christian encompasses the Biblical statement that your body is the Temple of The Holy Spirit, and if such is the case, which every person who claims to be a Christian should believe, and proclaim, than the way you look after your body, can reflect your personal relationship with the Creator.

That is the simple truth. It is time for me to go back to the thinking board and plan tomorrows sermon in greater detail.

Regards

HMS
